When I was growing up, my mother grew her own vegetables in an allotment.

Getting out there, digging, planting and harvesting in the fresh air comes with so many benefits. Doctors recommend that each day we should exercise for 30 minutes, eat five portions of fruit and vegetables, and take every opportunity to spend time outside to boost Vitamin D levels.

Then there are the global benefits to consider. Growing and eating your own vegetables isn’t just good for your health, it’s good for the health of the planet.

So what are you waiting for? Get your gardening gloves on, get outside, and get digging! You’ll feel better for it, and you’ll be doing your bit to help the planet.

1: Not quite an introduction. It gives a very brief summary of what the article is about so for literary purposes just say yes.
2: Yes it introduces the topic. The topic is growing your own vegetables.
3: Yes. The introduction shows that the author thinks people should grow their own vegetables.
4: No the introduction does not include a hook statement. The introduction is not in any way interesting to the reader and does not have any strong or interesting points.
5: Yes the paragraphs make a key point. The key point is about our health and the planets health.
6: Paragraph 4. That is only opinion and has no examples or facts to support what they’ve written.
7: Paragraph 4. Paragraph 3 describes the benefits of planting our own vegetables; an argument. Paragraph 4 is just a short, not particularly important point to the argument.
8: Yes the article has a conclusion. Paragraph 5 is the conclusion that just explains the authors standpoint and encourages the reader.
9: Not really. The conclusion is just encouraging the reader and is not particularly summarising their beliefs. All the conclusion says is that the reader should “get their gardening gloves on”.
10: Yes. The conclusion emphasises the writers views by encouraging the reader and describing what you should do to grow your own vegetables; emphasising the authors views.
