Damage to the valves in the heart usually causes heart murmur. The types of heart murmur are abnormal and innocent heart murmurs. A person with innocent murmurs have a normal heart and it is mostly seen in infants and new borns.
Abnormal heart murmur are most often due to acquired heart valve problems and it affects adults mostly.
Things that can cause innocent heart murmur are Physical exercise, Pregnancy, Fever, Anemia, hyperthyroidisim and a period of rapid growth, such as in adolescence. and with time innocent murmurs syops and goes away.
But congenital abnormal heart murmur can be caused by holes in the heart and heart vavle abnormalites among other things.
