Why won't my laptop charge?

It's plugged in and says "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and shuts down completely if the charger cord is removed. The problem started when my laptop fell off my bed while being plugged in and now that charger doesn't work, only other ones. At first, my laptop would charge and just occasionally shut down when unplugged and at a high percentage, but now it only does what stated above. Is this a problem I can fix on my own or do I need to consult someone else?
