The reason English is so prevalent throughout the world is due to the English imperialistic deeds throughout the 1600-1900's. With the establishment of the colonies, Britain engaged in many wars, and became the largest Empire in the world for a time, also the biggest trading partner in the world (East India Trading Company). Eventually, the colonies grew apart from Britain, and revolted. Many countries related to Britain became independent (The US, Australia, Canadian territories, Ireland., South Africa..) English speaking countries today are a result of this colonization and exploration.
